Unexpected but much appreciated

As a volunteer driver, we give our time not expecting anything in return, except perhaps a "thanks very much" from those who don't drive, don't want to drive or are simply unable to drive and handle the stress of the traffic or horrendous parking at the hospitals.

The first time I took Geoff to the Royal Berkshire in Reading last June, his treatment took longer than expected ( not unusual) but he kindly kept in touch by text to keep me updated. That's really appreciated but few patients do it.

When we got home Geoff said, hold on a minute, went inside and brought out a lovely bottle of wine out for me as a thank you. Of all the other patients (130-150), he has been the only one to do this.

it wasn't a one off either, he repeated this every time I took him to hospital.  An exceptional man in many ways and much missed by me at least.
